CO2IGN TENETS
As individuals and as a company, art and the people who create it are very important to us. As humans who live on the planet, the state of the environment and conservation efforts are ALSO very important to us. With that in mind, we’re established the following three tenets to guide us:
1. Support small and emerging artists.
You shouldn’t need to be a high-profile artist to be paid for your work. Our platform is open to artists of all levels, and we don’t offer paid promotions on the site (that is, nobody buys their way to the top). We also validate the artists we onboard to confirm the art isn’t stolen.
2. Trust the experts on carbon reduction.
Evaluating carbon credit projects is complex and intimidating, and projects can be valuable but not glamorous. Rather than choosing projects to fund based on appeal, we rely on globally recognized standards to support projects.
3. Walk the walk.
Our operating values match those of our platform. We commission artists, and never try to get work done for free. We minimize our company’s carbon emissions wherever we can, and offset where we can’t.

PEOPLE
CO2ign is a small team of seven! We are headquartered in the PNW, with employees spread across the United States.

Carly | Graphene (she/her)
Founder, CEO, Chief Architect
@GrapheneBee
Profile icon: skatuyart
After spending 14 years as a software engineer in Big Tech, Graphene quit to do her own thing in early 2021. She has spent even longer than that in online communities, and she loves playing with game mechanics: seeing how a little structure can guide people to create stories around it. As a long-time appreciator of digital art, she also hopes that a little structure can guide people to more easily support both the art they love and the environment.
Graphene is an allotrope of carbon consisting of a single layer of atoms arranged in a two-dimensional honeycomb lattice nanostructure.

Dane | Lahar (they/them)
Content Manager
@lahardyhar
Profile icon: Picrew
Lahar has over a decade of experience supporting users in both Big Tech and Higher Education. They spend a lot of time thinking about user experience and differing perspectives, and how to make the things they work on as accessible as possible. They’re an amateur dabbler in a variety of artistic fields, and have spent over 15 years in online fandom spaces and have seen the range of incredible things that can come from collaborative creative efforts–they’re excited to be able to support the community that has meant so much to them, while also working to improve the planet via CO2ign.
Lahar is a violent slurry of hot or cold pyroclastic flow that originates in a volcano and often travels along the valley of a river.
